Do you want to work with public transport where analysis, business, people, and operations come together? Vy Buss is now looking for a Traffic Developer for Borås – a key role for you who wants to influence how traffic is planned, developed, and functions in everyday life for passengers, drivers, and clients.

As a Traffic Developer at Vy Buss, you will play a crucial role in developing smart, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions. You will work close to the operations, but with a clear long-term perspective: how can traffic become better, easier, more attractive, and more profitable over time?

The role initially has a clear focus on urban traffic in Borås, but you will become part of Vy Buss's broader business development – where assignments, focus areas, and traffic areas can develop over time.

This is a role for you who has several years of experience in traffic planning, traffic development, or similar – and who wants to take greater responsibility in a business where details matter, but where the big picture is always most important.

About Vy Buss

Vy Buss is part of the Vy Group, one of the largest actors in land-based passenger transport in the Nordics. In Sweden, Vy Buss operates contracted line traffic, express bus traffic, and airport bus traffic, with operations across large parts of the country.

We are located in Borås, Jönköping, and several other parts of the country. The service office is in Gothenburg, and we have approximately 1,900 employees in Sweden.

At our company, things happen every day. Traffic must work here and now. Drivers should have a sustainable daily routine. Passengers should arrive safely and on time. Clients should feel trust. This requires engagement, innovation, and people who want to take responsibility and make a difference.

We work entrepreneurially even in a large organization. We plan smartly, collaborate closely, and constantly improve how we work. New ideas are welcome, initiatives are encouraged, and decisions are made close to the operations.

Our culture is characterized by joy, responsibility, openness, and low prestige. We have clear goals and high ambitions – but also a warm community where we help each other, share knowledge, and have fun along the way.

The role in practice

As a Traffic Developer, you work on developing transport solutions that work both on paper and in reality.

You analyze existing traffic, travel patterns, capacity, and traffic flows. You identify improvements, develop proposals, and contribute to decisions that affect routes, timetables, resource utilization, quality, and profitability.

You belong to the Traffic Development Department and work closely with other traffic developers, business managers, operational organization, and clients.

An important part of the role is that you are close to the operations. You are expected to be at the depot in Borås at least four days a week. This means you not only work with numbers, systems, and data – you also get to feel the pulse of the operations, understand what happens in everyday life, and see how different decisions really affect traffic.

An adjustment in planning can affect the passenger's experience, the driver's workday, the client's trust, and the business's results. Your task is to understand these connections – and find solutions that hold.

What you will work with

In the role, you will among other things:

  • analyze traffic data, travel patterns, capacity, and passenger flows
  • develop route networks, traffic setups, timetables, and operational plans
  • work with vehicle plans, service plans, and schedules in HASTUS and other relevant systems
  • identify traffic-related problems and plan reroutes that improve accessibility and reduce delays
  • prepare decision materials and proposals for internal decision-makers and clients
  • collaborate closely with operations, traffic control, drivers, business managers, and clients
  • contribute to tender, establishment, and development projects as needed

Who we are looking for

We are looking for you who have several years of experience in traffic planning, traffic development, or a related role within public transport, buses, trains, or other complex traffic operations.

You have very good experience working in HASTUS and are confident in working with data, planning, systems, and decision materials. You also need to thrive in a role where you collaborate with many different functions – from operations and traffic control to business managers and external clients.

We believe you have:

  • several years of relevant experience in traffic planning, traffic development, or similar
  • very good experience with HASTUS
  • good understanding of line traffic, capacity, and traffic production
  • experience with timetable, vehicle, service, and schedule planning
  • good system familiarity and habit of working with data, statistics, and decision materials
  • ability to communicate clearly with different stakeholders in Swedish and English

Post-secondary education in areas such as logistics, traffic planning, urban planning, engineering, statistics, or data analysis is meritorious, but relevant experience weighs heavily.

As a person

You are meticulous, responsible, and like to understand how things fit together.

You thrive with clear goals and get energy from finding better solutions. At the same time, you have an open mind and a non-hierarchical attitude. You understand that the best traffic solutions often emerge when data is combined with experience from operations, drivers, traffic control, and clients.

You need to be able to go into details without getting stuck there. A solution should not only look good in the system – it must work for the business, the drivers, the passengers, and the company.

We believe you:

  • like to work towards goals and see concrete results
  • are quality-conscious without being rigid
  • naturally collaborate with different types of people
  • dare to question, simplify, and find smarter ways of working
  • have business thinking and understand the connection between traffic, quality, and profitability

Why should you work with us?

This is a role for you who wants your work to be noticed.

At Vy Buss, you get to work close to both people and data, in a business where traffic development is truly business-critical. What you do can affect passengers' daily lives, drivers' working conditions, traffic quality, and the company's results. You get the opportunity to make a real difference in an organization that values innovation, responsibility, and community.
