At Thiva, we have six ICU beds, and the Cardiac Recovery Unit (HUA) has two care beds Monday–Friday, along with close cooperation with the Thoracic Recovery Unit (Thuva), an intermediate care unit at the clinic. This results in a variety of different patient categories. We work in teams consisting of nurses and assistant nurses. At Thiva, anesthesiologists round on the patients.

We have a preferred schedule based on operational needs, usually an eight-week schedule where you are expected to work approximately eight weekend shifts per schedule period. We have the possibility of agreements according to the point model and its regulations.

Job Description

As an intensive care nurse, you will play a central role in the care of patients before and after heart, lung, and vascular surgery. We provide highly specialized intensive care where you will have the opportunity to manage various heart assist devices such as ECMO, HeartMate, Impella, and intra-aortic balloon pumps.

Our patient flow covers both acute handling of patients and pre/post-operative care.

• Nursing care of patients pre- and post-operatively by providing tailored care and medical treatment.
• Monitoring of patients' condition and reactions to treatments.
• Close collaboration with assistant nurses, anesthesia nurses, doctors, and physiotherapists.
• Provide support and guidance to patients and their families during the intensive care period.
• Participate in educational activities at Thiva and the clinic/production unit.

Our patient catchment area is from the South-Eastern Healthcare Region.

Work Group

At Thiva and HUA, we are approximately 80 employees (nurses and assistant nurses). We have a very stable staff group where over 60% have worked more than ten years at Thiva.

We have two committed unit managers who have close leadership and are responsible for the operations at Thiva every other week. This has created increased accessibility of leadership.

Thiva has an education coordinator for ICU nurses who schedules and plans ongoing education for everyone at Thiva. The education coordinator for ICU nurses is also involved with support and education during the introduction of all new hires. During the introduction, you will get two supervisors and a mentor during the first year, who take over after the introduction.

About You

You are a licensed specialist nurse in a relevant area. Other education in relevant or adjacent areas is meritorious.

Previous experience within the specialist area is meritorious but not a requirement. Experience in relevant or adjacent areas is also meritorious.

As you work in constant dialogue with patients, relatives, colleagues, and other operations, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing. You also need to be able to handle different IT systems to perform daily care work.
