The Culture Administration promotes a broad art and cultural life for everyone to participate in. We work towards a sustainable and open city that places culture and art at the center.

The Culture Administration employs approximately 800 people who primarily work within libraries, cultural centers, museums, and other cultural activities.

Job Responsibilities

Göteborgs Konsthall is a meeting place for contemporary art. Through exhibitions, programs, and public dialogues, we aim to spark curiosity, create experiences, and offer new perspectives. We strive to reach a broad audience, with the visitor's experience always at the center.

Following the move from Götaplatsen, Göteborgs Konsthall is now heading towards a reopening in Slakthuset in Gamlestaden in the spring of 2027. In this exciting development phase, we are seeking a Graphic Designer for a 50% position on a fixed-term assignment.

As a Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for creating a clear, accessible, and cohesive visual identity for the art hall's physical and digital environments.

In this role, you will, among other things:

  • design signage and visual materials for exhibitions, public programs, projects, and the shop
  • manage the entire process, from concept and design to ordering, production, and final delivery
  • ensure and further develop the art hall's new graphic profile
  • create accessible and inclusive graphic design for various target groups
  • collaborate with project managers, communicators, shop coordinators, and others to create a cohesive visitor experience
  • maintain ongoing contact with printers and suppliers to ensure high quality in materials, production, and final delivery

You will become an important part of shaping Göteborgs Konsthall's new visual expression ahead of the 2027 opening.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has education in graphic design
  • Has experience working with graphic design and accessibility adaptation in public environments
  • Has a good understanding of how visual communication can be made inclusive and accessible for different target groups
  • Has good material knowledge and experience collaborating with printers and suppliers
  • Has knowledge of printing processes and production – from concept to finished product
  • Is proficient in InDesign and Photoshop and has good skills in the Office suite

It is an advantage if you also have experience of:

  • Working within cultural activities, museums, or art halls
  • Physical signage and wayfinding

As a person, you take responsibility for both your own and the team's tasks and work with the organization's goals and the target group's best interests in focus. You are motivated by clear goals and have the ability to translate them into concrete action, while being flexible and able to reprioritize when needs change.

You are attentive and show respect in your interactions with others, viewing collaboration as a natural part of achieving good results. You communicate clearly and adapt your message to the recipient and situation. You contribute to an open and constructive working climate where you learn from experiences and develop together. At the same time, you are motivated by the opportunity to contribute your competence to an organization that is in the midst of a transformation journey.

Other Information

The City of Göteborg actively works to promote equal rights and opportunities and to counteract discrimination. We care for our employees' health and offer, among other things, wellness allowances, discounted gym memberships, and bicycle benefits. We have a smoke-free working environment.

We recruit based on a competence-based recruitment process to ensure a fair and equal recruitment. In this recruitment, we do not use cover letters. Instead, you will answer questions related to the job's requirements and competencies to ensure a fair, norm-critical, and accurate process. To allow us to assess your competence, we also ask you to attach reference material from previous work where you were responsible for the entire process, from concept to finished production, preferably in a public environment.

Interviews are scheduled for week 18. For your interview, you need to bring a valid ID (passport/national ID) and, if necessary, proof of residence permit. This is because we, as an employer, need to verify your identity and your right to work in Sweden.
