As a Technical Specialist in Hydrogeology, you will play a central role in the development of some of Sweden's most significant infrastructure projects. You will join a dedicated specialist team where various technical areas collaborate to create sustainable and safe road and railway facilities. Responsibilities
Hydrogeology within the Swedish Transport Administration's construction projects involves understanding the hydrogeological conditions for the facility, as well as managing risks related to groundwater impact and its consequences for the project and the surrounding environment.
As a hydrogeology specialist, you will support and guide projects throughout the entire process, with a particular focus on permits for water activities related to groundwater drainage. You will review and approve hydrogeological deliverables based on quality, compliance with regulations, and statutory requirements. Since groundwater issues often involve multiple disciplines, you will work in close collaboration with environmental, legal, geotechnical, rock engineering, and drainage teams.
An important part of the role is to contribute to the development of methodologies and strategies within hydrogeology, drive research and innovation issues, participate in cooperation with authorities, and share experiences between projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as a technical leader and strategist within the projects assigned to you
- Participating in technical and program/project meetings
- Reviewing and quality-assuring contractors' designs and reports
- Representing the Swedish Transport Administration towards supervisory authorities in permit processes and control programs

Qualifications
Who are you?
To succeed in this role, we look for someone who is skilled in communication and can explain complex information in a pedagogical way. You can take on a trustworthy and advisory role, initiate and complete tasks, and dare to make decisions. You have good collaboration skills and are adept at finding your role and responsibility within an organization. You possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills and the ability to drive your work forward independently.
We are looking for someone who
- holds at least a Master's degree or Civil Engineer degree in civil engineering, environmental and water technology, or geoscience, or equivalent education and experience as assessed by the Swedish Transport Administration
- has extensive, current, and relevant work experience in hydrogeological work within construction or infrastructure projects
- has current and relevant work experience in hydrogeological risk management within construction or infrastructure projects
- has good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
- has basic knowledge of English, both spoken and written
It is an asset if you
- have current and relevant work experience with hydrogeological issues in fractured rock
- have current and relevant experience working with various contract and compensation forms
- have current and relevant experience working with regulations, standards, and practices within infrastructure
- have current and relevant experience working as a technical manager in hydrogeology, or equivalent experience as assessed by the Swedish Transport Administration
- have current and relevant work experience in groundwater modeling using Modflow, or equivalent experience as assessed by the Swedish Transport Administration
- have current and relevant experience working with environmental assessments
