About the workplace

As a cook in a preschool, you make a difference every day. The meal unit is divided into ten sections and ensures that the administration's approximately 180 preschools receive nutritious and delicious food every day. We are currently looking for cooks for permanent, fixed-term, and hourly positions.

You contribute to awakening children's interest in flavors and textures, creating joy in food and a pleasant atmosphere. Meals are an important part of the day at preschool, and your work contributes to lifelong positive values regarding food, the environment, and health.

Job responsibilities

The preschool offers breakfast, lunch, and snacks every day. Common tasks include cooking from scratch, including the daily lunch, special diets, and baking.

In addition to your important mission of cooking good and nutritious food, you will work as a cook with menu planning, ordering, meal pedagogy, self-control, and cleaning. The assignment involves daily contact with children and pedagogical staff.

Meal pedagogy is about learning through food and meals. We want kitchen staff and educators to work together in the pedagogical activities, both theoretically and practically. Through a holistic perspective on meals, you contribute to giving children good eating habits.

Menu planning is based on the Swedish Food Agency's recommendations for good food in preschools. For us, it is important that you can give children the opportunity to try new dishes and products so they can learn to know their senses and their own taste, which in turn plays a major role in children's attitude towards food.

Nutritious food that ends up in the stomach is the most important ingredient during the children's preschool day. Full and happy children have the energy to play and learn all day!

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has completed a cook/large-scale kitchen education or other education deemed equivalent by the employer. You should have at least one year of experience in cooking in large-scale kitchens and/or restaurants, and we prefer that you have experience with public meals. You want to cook good food from scratch and bake every day. In-depth knowledge of special diets, self-control, and nutrition is an asset.

As a person, you are service-oriented and collaborative with good cooking skills, ensuring that all children, including those with allergies, receive the food they need to grow and develop. We want you to care for the environment and use sustainable products to the extent possible. It is considered an asset if you can cook vegetarian food from scratch. Furthermore, it is also an asset if you have knowledge, experience, and an interest in working with meal pedagogy. To thrive, you need the ability to work both independently and in a team. You have the ability to adapt to new work environments, and you are also meticulous and structured.

We are looking for someone who is engaged, proactive, and innovative. Planning and having good foresight are a natural part of your daily work. You want to contribute to equality, value differences, and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect oneself and others. The work in our kitchen team places high demands on your flexibility and adaptability.

Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a requirement. You need to be able to handle IT tools to, for example, order goods and perform self-control digitally.
