Store Associate with Independent Operational Responsibility
Fixed-term employment 12 months – Wermlands Skogsförråd AB, Kil
Do you want a role where you don't just work in a store – but actually make things happen?
In our store in Kil, we sell animal feed, accessories, garden products, and seasonal goods. Our customers are primarily pet owners and individuals with a strong interest in animals and nature, which influences both our assortment and customer interactions.
We are looking for a reliable and responsible person who enjoys taking ownership in daily operations, making decisions, and contributing to the smooth running of the business – every day.
This is a role for someone who wants to be an integral part of a small team – not just execute tasks.
About the Role
You will work in our store in Kil alongside an experienced colleague. Together, you are responsible for ensuring the store functions – both practically and commercially.
The role involves that you:
- drive daily operations and ensure order and structure
- meet customers with confidence and service
- manage goods flow, inventory, and logistics
- work with assortment, ordering, and supplier contacts – with responsibility for decisions regarding goods, prices, and stock
- contribute to a profitable and well-functioning store
- monitor sales and stock levels
- adjust prices based on purchase prices
- publish simple posts on social media
You have an active responsibility to ensure customers receive the right help and professional treatment – even when the pace is high or the situation requires extra clarity.
The work is varied and practical – sometimes physical – and requires that you can prioritize, make decisions, and take your own initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening/closing and daily operations
- Cash handling and reconciliation according to routines
- Customer service and sales
- Goods receiving, forklift driving, and customer loading
- Inventory management and store structure
- Order handling in the webshop
- Publishing on social media
During the mushroom season, you may also contribute to our mushroom business, for example with purchasing, work in the cold room, or packaging.
We are looking for you who
- take responsibility for ensuring work functions in daily life – without needing to be directed at every step
- have a structured working method and maintain order even when the pace is high
- are comfortable making decisions in daily work and taking responsibility for them
- have a business mindset and take responsibility for how goods, prices, and stock affect the result
- are confident in customer meetings and can handle both simple and more demanding situations with calm, clarity, and service
- work carefully and follow routines, especially in cash handling and administrative tasks
- enjoy working both independently and together with others
- feel comfortable in an environment where customers often have questions about animals, feed, and products
The role suits you who enjoy responsibility and variety – not you who want a clearly defined and directed role.
We also welcome you if you:
- have an interest in animals and nature
- have an eye for the store's expression, display, and campaigns
- like to contribute with ideas and improvements
You will work closely with a colleague who is strong on structure – therefore we welcome you who complement with confidence, drive, and a solution-oriented working method.
Requirements for the Role
The work is sometimes physical and involves handling heavier goods such as feed, pellets, and pallets.
You need to be unpretentious, flexible, and ready to take responsibility where needed – even outside your main role.
The role implies that you need to be able to switch between practical work and customer contact without losing focus or service spirit.
Qualifications
- Experience from retail, warehouse, or similar is an asset
- Forklift license B is an asset (if missing, you must be willing to obtain it)
- Good computer skills and confidence in business systems are a requirement
