As a border guard with the Border Police Section, you will work in a team with high demands for responsibility regarding assigned tasks. Together with other border guards and police officers, you will perform daily tasks within the immigration area handled by the section. The main task consists of checking incoming and outgoing passengers by examining travel documents in connection with border control or internal immigration control. You will also assist serving border commanders with on-call activities for immigration matters, and some investigative work may occur. You will work extensively with interpreters and must have a high tolerance for people in vulnerable situations.

The main work is performed at Skavsta Airport, which is your place of duty, but service may occur at all external and internal border crossings in the East Region, which may involve travel time and overnight stays. Deployment to other locations may occur. Working hours are irregular and vary depending on which border crossing you serve. The employment requires a security check according to the Security Protection Act (1996:627). You work primarily indoors, but outdoor work also occurs. The position also involves a large number of administrative tasks in the form of documentation and reporting.

Initially, a 14-week theoretical and practical training is conducted. The training is estimated to start in January 2027 and will be conducted at Skavsta Airport, Nyköping.

A fixed-term employment contract applies during the training, and continued employment presupposes that you have completed the training with a passing result.

For those interested in working abroad as a border guard, there is, after gaining some experience, the opportunity to apply for assignments via Frontex.
