We are looking for flexible veterinarians who can step in at short notice at a slaughterhouse in Lammhult and at smaller wildlife facilities located in the surrounding areas.

A socially important mission
As an official veterinarian, you contribute to Sweden having good animal welfare and safe food. In your work, you are responsible for live animal inspections and inspections after slaughter. You work to detect any deficiencies in animal welfare by examining the animals coming to the slaughterhouse and how the company's employees handle the animals. You ensure that the animals are healthy at both individual and flock levels, and assess whether the meat from the animals can be approved as food.
As an authority representative, you have an important mission towards the entrepreneur. You have a control function, but you should also act as support and facilitate for the entrepreneur to do the right thing. You do this by informing about what good animal welfare means, about the animals' needs and species-specific characteristics, and by helping to create an understanding of hygiene and food safety in food production.
About the team
You will belong to the Central Skåne & Southern Småland team. The team consists of 9 official veterinarians and 6 food inspectors. The team is strongly bonded and has a great focus on equality, which means you always have a knowledgeable colleague to contact when needed. In Lammhult, three of the team members work; two official veterinarians and one food inspector.
The position involves staffing either a slaughterhouse in Lammhult or one of the three wildlife facilities in the local area. It can involve single days and longer periods. You will be offered an introduction based on your needs and given the opportunity to visit the facilities. There is an opportunity to combine the job with another employment/activity that does not conflict with the Swedish Food Agency's mission.
Your competencies
To work as an official veterinarian with us, you must have a Swedish veterinary license, or a veterinary license from another country that has been approved by the Swedish Board of Agriculture for professional practice in Sweden.
You should also have good knowledge of Swedish and be able to understand and make yourself understood in English. Good administrative skills and good written Swedish are also highly valued for this position.

You need to be flexible, punctual, efficient, and able to make your own well-founded decisions and initiatives. You have high personal maturity with the ability to reflect on your own strengths and areas for development, and can see and contribute to the whole. You dare to make the decisions required in consultation with your colleagues and manager. You have good collaboration skills and help selflessly where needed. You keep yourself updated on the latest in your area of expertise and are happy to share your knowledge and experience. At the same time, you are open to learning from others. It is together with your colleagues that you succeed and develop. Conversations in meetings with entrepreneurs and in contact with other stakeholders are also part of the job, which requires you to be clear, professional, and attentive in your communication, while being confident in your authority role. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
