Job Responsibilities

The role of special educator is an exciting and varied assignment where you and the student health team are an important part of the school's organization. As a special educator, you are responsible for the special educational task where you, together with the school's staff, work to provide the school's students with the best conditions to develop as far as possible and work to promote an accessible learning environment. You work closely with both students and colleagues and often have contact with guardians. As a special educator, you have a central role in coordinating the work done around our students and in guiding the school's staff as needed. Transitions from primary school to adulthood are important to us – therefore, you have contact and collaborate with other actors within the municipality to ensure that our students land correctly and in the right way both when they come to us and when they take the step into adulthood.

Requirements for the position:

• Licensed special educator/special teacher
• Experience from working in schools
• Good knowledge of applicable governing documents within schools
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing
  

Meritorious for the position:

• Experience of working in adapted school forms
• Good knowledge of applicable governing documents specifically for adapted school forms
• Good digital competence and knowledge of documentation

You take your own initiatives and work in a structured and goal-oriented manner. We believe you have the ability to see the overall picture around a student's situation, you can see the individual student's strengths and are solution-focused. You place great importance on the relational aspect of collaboration between student, home, and school. You have a good ability to create good collaborations both internally and externally. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, especially in terms of collaboration and cooperation skills.

About the workplace:

At Vägga Adapted Upper Secondary School, about 30 staff and 40 students work and study. We are located in the scenic area of Väggaskolan, with a beach promenade and the sea just a stone's throw away. The school has individual programs and three national programs. Each program has staff connected to it, where the special educator is one of the professions that works with all programs.
