The Primary Care Center of Östergötland consists of 33 region-operated health centers, an emergency center, the Finspång Health Center, the child health care unit, the vaccination clinic, 1177, and a general medical training center. We conduct a broad primary care operation where we offer care to everyone throughout their lives; newborns, children, adolescents, adults, the elderly, and patients at the end of life.

The City Health Center is centrally located in the old hospital area in Norrköping. The health center is operated by Region Östergötland, has just over 14,100 registered inhabitants in a mixed population, and about 60 permanent employees, which means we have a broad staffing in different professions.

The health center focuses on working behaviorally through the integration of psychological and somatic competence through the concept of Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH). We have been working on this for several years and also conduct research in the area. The goal is to work together across the health center to increase many patients' functional levels and quality of life and to enhance patients' ability to manage their issues. We also work to increase preventive efforts and avoid medicalization.

We are an academic health center with a growing commitment to research in several professions. Other focus areas include training younger colleagues and our collaborations, which we consider important. We have a geriatric care clinic for the most fragile elderly. We are also now an HBTQI-certified health center. The basic structure of the health center is good, which facilitates daily work.

Job Description

You will have a schedule as if you were a resident physician. Under supervision, you will work with consultations as is customary with different types of appointments. There is also in the schedule so-called “own booking” where you can make a judgment about whether you need the time for patient bookings or administration and thus have influence over your time. We are also otherwise receptive to your wishes regarding the schedule. We work with flexible hours. On-calls may be included in the assignment, depending on the length of employment. Cosmic is our working tool. If you are interested in research, this is a good workplace for you. You will of course receive an introduction so that you have the best conditions for your assignment.

Work Group

We have nine, soon ten general specialists, one retiree, and a professor of internal medicine. We have several resident and specialist physicians.

About You

You are a licensed physician with a strong interest in primary care. Previous work experience in primary care in Östergötland is meritorious. Experience in research work is also meritorious. You speak Swedish fluently and have at least level C1.

You are a good listener and enjoy collaborating with colleagues and other professional categories. You appreciate patient encounters and see the whole picture. You work responsibly with good quality and see the advantage of continuity and patient-centered care. You can also plan, organize, and prioritize your work. You can handle and switch between short visits and longer visits. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability for the position.
