Your role

The procurement function at Mälarenergi is making significant strides forward. We are developing our processes, systems, and ways of working, moving towards a more data-driven and category-managed procurement that enhances both business value and sustainability.

As the Category Leader for vehicles, logistics, and chemicals, you will take a comprehensive approach to one of our most critical business categories. You will drive the business from needs analysis and market dialogue to procurement, contracts, and measurable impact. Together with cross-functional teams, you will create stable and sustainable solutions that contribute to achieving our goals, especially our journey towards net-zero.

You will use data and market insights to make informed decisions, build strong business relationships, and ensure that our purchases comply with LUF and, when relevant, LOU. This means you secure deals that are both sustainable over time and make a difference here and now – for the business, customers, and the society we operate in.

Your main responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional category teams and jointly drive the work from needs analysis to realized impact.
• Ensure clear requirements and secure follow-up related to environment, work environment, and safe handling.
• Own and develop category and sourcing strategies based on market knowledge, risk awareness, sustainability, and sound business decisions.
• Conduct procurements within vehicle fleets, logistics solutions, and chemicals with a holistic perspective where TCO, life cycle analysis, and sustainability weigh heavily.
• Negotiate and sign contracts that create security, stability, and long-term value, and ensure that governance and follow-up work so that the effects are truly achieved.
• Work data-driven and follow up on costs, risks, quality, and results to continuously develop the category and contribute to Mälarenergi's journey towards net-zero.

We are looking for you

We are looking for someone who has the ability to translate data, market insights, and risk assessments into thoughtful and sustainable choices in an operation where both safety and societal benefit are in focus. You have experience in strategic procurement work and preferably a background in vehicles, logistics, industrial flows, technical products, or other related areas where business acumen and sustainability go hand in hand.

You are accustomed to driving cross-functional processes from early needs and requirements analysis to strategy, procurement, contracts, and follow-up impact. You have an understanding of public governance and regulations and feel comfortable in an environment where order and transparency are important parts of the business, even if it doesn’t have to be your main competence.

In negotiations, you are analytical and clear, and you have the ability to create solutions that work both today and in the future. Through structured follow-up of contracts and deliveries, you drive quality, efficiency, and sustainability – with a working method that builds trust and collaboration.

Working in a data-driven manner comes naturally to you. You use analyses in Excel and BI tools to capture patterns, risks, and opportunities and to provide the business with well-founded recommendations. You express yourself clearly and professionally in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. An academic education is an advantage, but we value solid and relevant experience just as highly.

The procurement department consists of eleven engaged employees who together form a strategic partner to the entire organization. We have seven category leaders, three tactical purchasers, and one procurement controller who together function as an important support function and drive the development of procurement work forward. Our common mission is to ensure that the Mälarenergi Group complies with applicable procurement legislation and works with efficient, sustainable, and businesslike solutions. For the vehicle area, there is close collaboration between procurement and the business's fleet manager on issues related to strategy, contracts, and development.
