We are now looking for a nurse for the forensic psychiatric examination unit in Stockholm, located at Helix, near Huddinge.
The National Board of Forensic Medicine has received two new assignments – to conduct risk assessments on behalf of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding conditional release and to carry out special risk investigations regarding security sentences on behalf of the court. The operations are in a phase of change, and new employees are being recruited.
Upon employment with the National Board of Forensic Medicine, there may be an obligation to be assigned to military service.
Your assignment
As a nurse under the group leader, you will be responsible for the work at a stay department and lead the nursing staff. You will work for care, safety, and logistics. The individuals in the stay department are detained and suspected of crimes.
Qualifications
- Licensed nurse with an interest in leadership and working with mental health issues.
Meritorious
- Experience in investigative forensic psychiatric work, correctional care, forensic psychiatric care, or psychiatric emergency care. Specialist nurse in psychiatry.
Personal qualities and abilities
You have the ability to collaborate with others and meet them in a responsive manner, you need to be stable and able to handle stressful situations at times. You are also engaged and responsible in your work and act in accordance with decisions and guidelines.
The work requires you to make correct assessments and priorities and to plan and organize your work effectively. You have the ability to see issues from an ethical perspective and express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written. You also have an interest in leadership, coordinating, motivating, and leading others.

Employment
Permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date is according to agreement. Placement in Stockholm, Huddinge. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting. The work involves shift work, daytime, evenings, nights, and weekends.

The forensic psychiatry department investigates on behalf of the court whether a person suspected of a crime committed it under the influence of a serious mental disorder. We also conduct risk assessments when life-sentenced individuals apply for a time-limited sentence. The forensic psychiatry department consists of two forensic psychiatric examination units located in Stockholm and Gothenburg, as well as the coordination unit located at the headquarters in Stockholm.
