JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As the department head for Social Services and Labor Market, you will lead adult services primarily in social assistance, addiction care, social psychiatry, housing, domestic violence, labor market, and integration. You will have personnel, budget, and operational responsibility for four unit managers and will be part of the management team. You will also lead your own management group and ensure that the operations are conducted legally, efficiently, and with a focus on quality and results for the residents of Arvika.

The role has a clear development focus, but you will step into an organization with established structures, engaged employees, and a good collaborative climate. The social services are facing changes due to the new social services act, the activity requirement within social assistance, and reforms regarding co-occurring disorders. You will play a central role in translating these changes into sustainable working methods together with an experienced and supportive management team.

Arvika municipality is at the forefront of national development work, and you will represent the municipality in regional networks and in collaboration with SKR.

The position includes management on-call duty every seventh week. During on-call duty, you may need to make decisions in urgent matters and therefore must be able to be present in Arvika within a reasonable time.

Requirements

• Degree in social work or other relevant education deemed equivalent by the employer.

• Experience in leadership with personnel responsibility.

• Experience in public authority operations and work within the public sector.

• Good knowledge of social work and experience in making complex decisions.

• Driver's license for manual transmission and access to a personal vehicle.

• Ability to take management on-call duty and be present in Arvika within about an hour.

Desirable

• Experience in development work within social services.

• Experience working in a management group.

• Collaboration with regional or national actors.

• Experience in leading change initiatives or operations in transition.

We view positively if you have worked in an organization where you needed to balance both strategic and operational issues – but this is not a requirement.
