Department Heads for Norrland's Academic Dentistry

Norrland's Academic Dentistry is a new base unit where general dentistry, specialist dentistry, clinical education, and research are gathered in a common structure. The operations are conducted in close collaboration between the Public Dental Service in Region Västerbotten and the Department of Odontology at Umeå University.

As a base unit, Norrland's Academic Dentistry is characterized by clear assignments, long-term competence supply, and active work with digital and integrated operational methods where clinical care, education, and development work are closely linked in daily operations with joint planning, responsibility, and follow-up. Here, you will have the opportunity to lead at the intersection of highly specialized care and learning, in an integrated academic environment together with the operations manager.

We are now looking for six department heads, where four positions will lead specialist dentistry and two positions will focus on general dentistry with an emphasis on clinical education of dentists, dental hygienists, and dental nurses within Region Västerbotten's basic education assignment. You take responsibility for your operations based on your authority and represent the employer by leading and developing towards the agreed goals for the Region's best.

In the role of department head, you will have a varied and developing assignment where you will help drive high-quality dental care in close collaboration with other stakeholders. You have a central role in leading and developing the clinical operations, which involves everything from staffing and scheduling to ensuring that patient flows and work environments maintain high standards. You will follow up on the operations' goals and results and contribute to research and education.

In this role, you will have the chance to make a difference, both for employees and patients, while also being part of building the future of dental care.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a relevant university education or other training or experience that we consider equivalent. If you are educated in leadership, work environment, or dentistry, it is an advantage.

We would like to see that you have experience in clinical work within dentistry, specialist or educational dentistry, as well as experience in personnel management or operational management. You should have a good understanding of and knowledge about patient safety, work environment, and economics.

We are looking for someone who has the ability to build trust within the workgroup and sees the value in working together in an open and respectful manner. You have excellent knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written forms. You communicate with a good understanding of how your words and actions are perceived by others. Consideration and care are obvious parts of your collaboration where you prioritize good relationships and contribute to a positive work environment through your way of being. We are looking for someone who is willing to share their thoughts and opinions to create engagement and participation in the team.

The assignment as a manager within Region Västerbotten is a fixed-term appointment, usually for 4 years, combined with a permanent position within your area of expertise.
