Åsele is a place perfectly located between the coast and the mountains in Southern Lapland. The Åsele municipality encompasses a scenic area of 4235 km², featuring over fifty nature reserves and a national park. The area serves as reindeer grazing land for two Sami villages during winter. What attracts visitors to Åsele, besides nature and outdoor activities, is the historic Åsele Market, one of Sweden's largest summer markets.

Åsele Municipality (Sjeltien tjïelte in Southern Sami) is a Sami administrative area, and knowledge of Sami is an asset in certain professions.

Job Responsibilities

As the Business Development Manager in Åsele, you will play a central role in leading and developing the municipality's business initiatives with a clear local anchoring. The task involves creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurship through dialogue, collaboration, and development work.

You will work closely with the local business community and have a special responsibility for capturing the perspectives, strengths, and challenges of businesses, bringing these into municipal and regional contexts where business issues might otherwise be overlooked.

The work includes both strategic and operational components and is conducted within the framework of the Åsele Business Foundation in close collaboration with Åsele Municipality.

Examples of Job Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development conditions of businesses by highlighting opportunities such as investment support, training, and relevant contacts
• Participate in regional development work together with colleagues within Region 10 and in collaboration with Region Västerbotten

The role includes formal managerial responsibilities.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who wants to work with business development in a smaller context where relationships, trust, and local knowledge are crucial. We place great emphasis on personal qualities and attitudes, and that you are confident in taking responsibility.

You:

• Have experience in development work and business issues
• Can work independently but appreciate collaboration and collegial work
• Have good computer skills and can work effortlessly in digital work environments. Experience with Microsoft 365 is an asset
• Have basic financial competence and are comfortable working with budgets, follow-ups, and financial responsibility
• Formal education in relevant areas is an asset

Scope

Permanent employment, full-time. A probationary period of 6 months applies. Start date according to agreement. The selection process and interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period.

Salary

Salary according to agreement.

Other

The position is location-bound in Åsele. Local presence and everyday work are seen as prerequisites for the assignment. The work requires some evening hours.

A valid driver's license is required as travel within the region is regularly needed.

You will be employed by the Åsele Business Foundation and work in close collaboration with Åsele Municipality.
