About us

At E.ON in Högbytorp, we convert waste into resources in the form of electricity and heat. Production runs around the clock for most of the year so that our customers can turn on the lights or take a hot shower. To ensure that the boiler, turbine, and district heating system have a long lifespan without high maintenance costs, it is necessary to control that the water chemistry remains within normal values. Continuous monitoring and regular sampling allow deviations to be detected in time and addressed before they cause problems. To make this possible, instruments, analyzers, and meters must be maintained and calibrated according to routine.

About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the water chemistry in our boilers and flue gas cleaning systems functions as it should. This means that you will regularly review the sampling equipment and, if necessary, adjust flows, change reagents, and check that the measurement values are within the reference values. Through regular sampling in both the water-steam cycle and the scrubber, you will monitor parameters that are not continuously monitored and take action if something deviates.

You will also have the opportunity to:

• calibrate pH and oxygen meters to ensure accurate measurements.

• work with operations when adjustments or actions need to be made.

• deepen your knowledge of flue gas analysis equipment, which we use to control the process as well as to collect measurement data for reporting.

About you

You enjoy applying theory to practical work and are curious about how chemistry works in a real facility. In this role, you need to feel comfortable moving in an industrial environment where it can be noisy and involve heights. You are also meticulous, curious, and have a desire to learn more about water chemistry and flue gas cleaning in energy production.

We would like you to:

• be studying at a university or college with a focus on chemistry
• have practical experience in chemistry from laboratory work
• have experience from wastewater treatment plants or other process industries
• have a safety awareness

Your team

You will be part of a group within electricity, automation, instruments, and chemistry. We work both strategically and operationally, with long-term planning, development of maintenance strategies, and support in daily operations. Here, there is a culture of openness, helpfulness, and collaboration, where we learn from each other and are always available when someone needs support.

Your immediate manager, David Jägers, has worked extensively in maintenance. He creates conditions for you to succeed through a leadership characterized by trust and support, where you have the space to influence and contribute your ideas. You will have freedom under responsibility and the opportunity to self-lead your work, with support from your manager and colleagues when needed.

Your mentor, Anna, places great importance on you understanding the overall work and why each step is important. Anna supports you not only in how to perform the tasks but also in seeing the bigger picture – how the process connects from start to finish, what to look for in the measurement values, and how to act if something deviates.
