to apply for the job
Do you want a job where your days are filled with song, laughter, and running around – while making a real difference in a child's life? Are you someone who gains energy from small people and prefers sitting on the floor rather than behind a desk? Then we are looking for you!
We are now seeking a long-term personal assistant for daytime work in a fast-paced and meaningful assignment in Luleå. You will work as an assistant to a happy, playful, and active 16-month-old boy who needs help with his breathing through a small tube in his throat. Otherwise, he is a healthy child with a lot of energy, a strong will, and great curiosity about the world.
This is a daytime position where the focus is on play, development, and active presence. Here, songs are sung, books are read, towers are built, and small feet are chased. We are looking for someone who is lively, playful, and present – and who finds it natural to sit on the floor and join in.
Apply today, selection is ongoing!
Information about the position
Professionals Nord is seeking a personal assistant on behalf of Novum Assistans. The position is a direct recruitment, meaning the recruitment process is conducted through Professionals Nord and you will be employed directly by Novum Assistans.
The position corresponds to approximately 50 percent and involves a fixed schedule with set days. The work is scheduled for daytime on weekdays.
The arrangement will be established at the time of employment and can be designed in various ways to suit the right candidate. This could mean working full-time every other week, approximately 07:00–16:00, or two fixed full days each week, for example, Monday and Tuesday. Other fixed arrangements may also be relevant. Once the schedule is agreed upon, it is long-term and remains in effect until further notice. This is not a need-based employment, but a long-term and scheduled role where continuity is very important.
The work is done with double staffing, which means you will always work together with a colleague, and the employment begins with a thorough introduction.
Job Responsibilities
As a daytime assistant, you are an active and present part of a little person's everyday life. This is a job filled with movement, laughter, and development. The days consist of reading books, singing songs, building towers that fall down, chasing small feet across the living room floor, and discovering the world together.
You help with everything related to toddler life: changing diapers, dressing and undressing, brushing hair, preparing snacks, and being there when emotions swing quickly. You support him in developing his communication, exploring new things, and feeling secure in everyday life. This is a job where you sit a lot on the floor, get up quickly, are in motion, and are fully present in the moment.
At the same time, there is an important aspect related to his breathing. The boy was born with a weakened trachea and therefore breathes through a small tube in his throat, known as a tracheostomy. In practice, this means that you, together with your colleague, are responsible for supervision related to this during the day. You keep an eye on the tracheostomy, assist with inhalations as needed, and ensure that the tube is kept clean with the help of a handy steam machine and a small medical “vacuum cleaner.” Therefore, this is an assignment for someone who can combine playfulness with responsibility.
The workplace is the family's home, where the boy lives with his parents and the family's dog. The home is a large and newly renovated villa with good conditions for a pleasant and well-functioning work environment.
We are looking for someone who
We are looking for someone who thrives at the pace of small children and enjoys being an active part of play. You are the one who sits on the floor without hesitation, who takes the initiative to read one more book, sing one more song, or come up with something new when energy is high.
You are confident in yourself and take responsibility for your assignment. You do not wait for instructions for every step but see what needs to be done and act accordingly. At the same time, you are calm, stable, and have the ability to maintain focus even when there is a lot of life around you.
You understand that even though the child is stable, his breathing aid requires attention and maturity. You can combine playfulness with vigilance and are comfortable taking on serious responsibilities.
You may have worked in preschool, been a nanny or au pair, or gained experience with small children in other ways. The most important thing is that you want to work long-term and see the value in following a child over time.
For the right person, this is a job that offers both responsibility and joy – and the opportunity to become an important part of a little person's life.
