If so, you will thrive with us in the surgical department at Skaraborg Hospital. We need to grow to expand our unit with more beds. Therefore, we need more staff! Would you like to be one of our new colleagues in the surgical department at SkaS Skövde?

About us

The surgical department in Skövde is the largest department in the hospital, has the most acute beds, and primarily provides emergency care. The work is varied, and in addition to the acute flow, we also have some planned care. Right now, we are in an expansive phase and will further increase the number of beds during the spring, and we are also going to become a disaster care department.

We care for patients with diseases of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract as well as surgical diseases such as malignant melanoma, breast cancer, and endocrine disorders. We also receive patients with burns, head injuries, and fall trauma. Additionally, we have a portion of patients who come in with what is called open return, meaning that patients with cancer diagnoses can avoid seeking care through the emergency department.

For us, it is important to work on development and continuous improvements - all to be able to offer the best care for our patients, as well as a stimulating work environment for our employees.

A valid nursing degree is a requirement for the position, and having a few years of work experience is advantageous. Great emphasis will also be placed on personal suitability.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introductory program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes introductory days, mentoring and training days, and observation days. The purpose of the Clinical Foundation Year is to create good conditions for newly graduated nurses to strengthen their theoretical knowledge and practice skills as well as grow into their new profession.
