JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you young, socially interested, and want a meaningful assignment where you get to talk to many people? Then the role of election ambassador might be for you.

Gävle Municipality is now looking for engaged election ambassadors who want to contribute to the work for increased voter participation, especially among first-time voters and in areas where voter turnout has historically been low. As an election ambassador, you help make democracy accessible, meet people where they are, and spread knowledge about when, where, and how voters can vote. Through a conversation-based methodology, you provide neutral information about how the election process works, voting rights, and the different ways to vote in Gävle Municipality. Your engagement can make a difference for both the individual and society as a whole.

About the assignment.

The assignment includes approximately 130 hours, with the possibility of more hours if needed. The work is primarily scheduled for the weeks leading up to the election day in 2026 and starts with paid training days in June. During this time, you will receive an introduction, have the opportunity to meet other election ambassadors, and be involved in shaping a common strategy for the assignment. Election day on September 13, 2026, is mandatory working time and may, depending on needs, involve a long workday.

A large part of the assignment may take place in the evenings and on weekends, making it suitable to combine with studies or another summer job. The assignment as an election ambassador is always conducted in pairs.

• Conduct outreach to the target group and carry out external activities in various locations around the municipality.
• Raise engagement and interest in democracy and elections.
• Motivate people to exercise their right to vote.
• Spread knowledge about how the election process works in an accessible, inclusive, and inspiring way.
• Be involved in the planning of the assignment at an early stage.
• Contribute your own ideas and thoughts on where, when, and how activities should be carried out.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are at least 18 years old and have completed secondary education or are currently studying at high school, are socially interested, and want to work for increased voter participation.

• You can maintain political neutrality and act professionally in your assignment.
• You have good social skills and find it easy to communicate with people in various contexts.
• You express yourself well in Swedish and English verbally.
• Language skills beyond Swedish and English are an asset, such as Arabic, Somali, Kurdish, or Tigrinya.
• You have the opportunity to work mainly during August and September, including day, evening, and weekend hours.
