Are you longing for a varied workday where you can help shape the operations of an integrated public and school library? Do you enjoy meeting patrons of all ages? We are now looking for a driven and engaged librarian for a full-time position at the library in Färila.

The position is divided into 60% school library and 40% public library.

The library's operations are governed by the Library Act, and our main mission includes promoting democracy and free opinion formation, lifelong learning, and encouraging reading and literature. The school library's operations are governed by the Education Act, where the school library's mission is to promote students' reading and media and information literacy.

The library is located in the Environmental Sector, one of four sectors in Ljusdal Municipality.

Responsibilities

Färila Library is an integrated library located in central Färila, directly adjacent to the school. You will be responsible for the daily operations of the library; meeting visitors of all ages and guiding them in their information needs, whether they are looking for a really good book or need help with digital services. You will also manage the library's media and ensure that the library is an open and welcoming space for everyone. Within the framework of the school library operations, you will receive classes in the library and meet students in the classroom. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating reading promotion activities and activities that enhance students' media and information literacy. Some program activities for the public will occur, such as story hours and holiday activities. The position includes some evening work.

Working in a small unit means that you will meet many people daily; both the public, school students, and educators, and you therefore need to easily create and maintain good and trusting relationships. You are creative and innovative and have an easy time collaborating both internally and externally.

The work requires independence, security, and flexibility, as you will often work alone. You will be part of work and planning groups with colleagues from other public and school libraries in the municipality. You will coordinate school library operations in consultation with educators and students at Färila School.

Qualifications

You have a degree in library and information science or other education that the employer considers equivalent.

We would like you to have several years of experience in library work. Experience working as a school or children's librarian is especially meritorious. You are attentive and curious and have an easy time collaborating with others. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. You have a knack for engaging with people and enjoy a varied workday.
