Visby Cemetery and Property Management, responsible for the cemeteries of the Visby Cathedral Parish and all properties, is seeking a full-time cemetery worker starting May 1, 2026, or by agreement.

The employment is permanent with a six-month probationary period.

Job Responsibilities

You will work with the maintenance and upkeep of our burial sites, which includes everything from grave digging, planting, watering, lawn mowing, and landscaping work. Your tasks will include opening and refilling urn graves and digging coffin graves.

The position involves workshop work, requiring skills in basic repairs and maintenance of various machines. You need to be able to handle the latest maintenance methods and a modern machine fleet. You will be responsible for basic maintenance of the cemetery's properties, such as service/checking heating systems, gutters, etc. The tasks also involve transportation between the different cemeteries. You will actively participate in environmental and budget work with a focus on long-term planning.

During the winter months, we are responsible for all snow removal in the entire parish, which means you are also expected to be on call. The work is physical and takes place outdoors in all weather conditions. You often meet people in difficult life situations, which requires a respectful and professional approach.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Education in gardening, construction, or landscaping at least at the high school level
• Experience operating various types of machinery
• Good physical condition
• Driver's license (B)
• Some IT skills

Meritorious:

• Excavator training
• Chainsaw certificate and/or brushcutter certificate
