About the workplace

The schools of Helsingborg municipality are a resourceful and value-driven organization.

At Meal Service, we aim to spread good eating habits through all parts of our operations. Our main task is to prepare and serve meals to the city's municipal schools. Through food and meals, we want to create the best possible conditions for children's and young people's growth, further studies, work, and a sustainable life. We have over 140 employees working in our 40 kitchens. We prepare about 20,000 lunch portions daily for municipal schools and preschools. Our vision is to lead by example and create good, nutritious, and climate-smart eating habits for our guests. We want to conserve the earth's resources and work purposefully, together with the schools, to reduce food waste. Our menu is developed by a reference group of chefs.

In our kitchens, we prepare most of the food from scratch and always choose organic ingredients when possible. We offer at least two dishes and a large vegetable buffet daily.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for an innovative chef! You should have a burning interest in preparing good and nutritious food for our guests. You will be involved in planning, purchasing, meal preparation, and self-control. Together with your colleagues, you will work to introduce more climate-smart food and come up with new ideas. We are constantly working to develop our plant-based menu.

We follow the guidelines of the Swedish Food Agency regarding meals in schools. Together with other staff in the school restaurant, you will participate in planning and designing the meals.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is self-driven, structured, and who sees the big picture by striving for you and your team to maintain the highest quality. You are interested and passionate about your cooking and take pride in being a chef. You want to develop your skills by participating in the training initiatives we offer. You have the ability to lead and engage your colleagues. You are a trained chef and have good knowledge of nutrition, special diets, and food hygiene. You have a clear guest and customer focus and a desire to work with continuous improvements. You are a positive and inclusive colleague who can inspire and uplift others and create a good and open working climate. We would also like you to have experience with dietary software and documenting digitally.
