The Gotland School of Region Gotland consists of 30 schools, from preschool to grade 9, with approximately 900 employees and 5,500 students.

All schools with preschool classes up to grade 6 have integrated after-school care. Our schools are spread across the island and offer a safe and equitable education focused on knowledge, development, and future confidence. Your Responsibilities

As Deputy Department Head, you will have personnel responsibility for about half of the principals within the principal group, where you lead, follow up, and contribute to their development. You have overall responsibility for financial planning, monitoring, and analysis, and you prepare decision-making, budget, and follow-up materials related to the organization's finances.

In close collaboration with controllers, you lead financial processes and any action programs. The role also includes leading and conducting investigations, following up and analyzing statistics, results, and key figures, and presenting these to the department head. You will prepare service letters and other formal decision-making materials and be responsible for driving systematic quality work. The assignment also includes participating in and contributing to work on local issues and school transport.

You report to the department head, who has overall decision-making responsibility. In this role, you are a qualified support in both strategic and operational matters and contribute with materials, analyses, and recommendations for decisions.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with principal training, a B driver's license, and education in occupational health and labor law. You have experience from primary school, have previously worked as a principal, and have experience from a politically governed organization. Additionally, you have experience in systematic quality work.

It is an advantage if you have experience in occupational health work, collaboration with trade unions, and if you have previously been a principal for grades 7–9 and above.

We are looking for someone with high personal maturity, financial awareness, and goal- and result-oriented. You are structured, have good collaboration skills and pedagogical insight, as well as a problem-solving analytical ability that allows you to work with complex issues. You can analyze problems, break them down into their components, and develop solutions to complicated situations. Furthermore, you are rule-conscious, place great value on decisions made, rules, and guidelines, and handle feedback and comments constructively.

About the Education and Labor Administration

As part of Region Gotland, we contribute in the Education and Labor Administration to the learning and development of children, young people, and adults. We are responsible for, among other things, preschools, primary schools, after-school care, adapted primary and secondary schools, cultural schools, upper secondary and adult education, labor market initiatives, youth centers, and the reception and establishment of newcomers.
