Swedish Armed Forces Seeking Air Surveillance Operator

The Swedish Armed Forces exist to protect Sweden. Our mission requires a wide range of operations. As an employee with us, you will become an important part of Sweden's defense. Imagine going to work and contributing to a safer future! We are growing and are now looking for more colleagues to strengthen our team!

About the Unit

161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion operates around the clock, year-round to monitor and defend Swedish airspace. You will work at the 1612 Combat Control and Air Surveillance Company, which is one of the battalion's three companies. Your workplace is the Air Combat Control Center with the call sign Cobra, located in Hästveda, Skåne.

Main Responsibilities

As an air surveillance operator, your main task will be in the incident readiness command center, where you contribute to creating the Swedish Armed Forces' air situation picture. The position also involves supporting the processing of flight permits submitted by other nations, including those regarding state flights.

You will work with live air operations, which means the position offers competitive salary levels within the Swedish Armed Forces. Physical and mental well-being is highly prioritized, which is why we have three hours of training during work hours each week, as well as access to a psychologist and occupational therapist at the unit. You are entitled to 28-35 vacation days, depending on your age.

You will have the opportunity to develop in various directions, for example within system development together with SAAB, deepening in data link communication, or leading training for future colleagues at functional schools, depending on which parts of the position interest you the most. The position also provides significant opportunities for further education and is meritorious for specialist officer and officer training with a focus on air surveillance. The position will involve some travel, for example to serve at the other companies.

Within the Swedish Armed Forces, we always work as a team. Our organization is built on collaboration, adaptability, and a shared responsibility for the whole. This means that we are all prepared to support each other, sometimes even outside our own competence and comfort zone. Therefore, as an employee, you may sometimes be faced with new types of tasks. This is a natural part of working in the Swedish Armed Forces, which serves both the authority and the employee's development well, and you will never be given a task that you do not have the means to complete.
