Waste Management Manager at Teknik i Väst AB
Teknik i Väst AB is a resource company owned by the municipalities of Arvika and Eda. The company is responsible for waste management, operation, and maintenance in the areas of roads and streets as well as water and sewage for the municipalities of Arvika and Eda. The company also manages the electricity grid, district heating, and power for Arvika, as well as the operation of fiber networks for Arvika and Årjäng.

About the Role
As Waste Management Manager, you are responsible for the entire waste management operation in the municipalities of Arvika and Eda – from the collection of food and residual waste, sludge, and latrine, to the operation and development of our recycling centers and landfills at Mosseberg and Lunden. You will lead two unit managers and there are a total of 30 employees in the operation where you have overall responsibility for the development of the business, investments, and fees in both municipalities.
Your role also includes:
- driving strategic development work within an industry undergoing significant change
- working on the long-term development of waste facilities, including permitting issues and environmental requirements
- being a client in development projects
- leading digitalization initiatives
- collaborating closely with customer service, communication, and other support functions
- participating in board meetings, political forums, and collaboration with other municipalities
- actively contributing to collaboration through Avfall Värmland, Avfall Sverige, and other external networks.
You are part of both the company's management team and the community development manager's management team in Eda. The position is located at Arvika City Hall, with regular presence in the operations.
Ongoing and Upcoming Development Areas
There is a lot happening in the waste management operation, and you will play a central role in several important changes, including:
- introduction of home sorting and expanded collection responsibility
- implementation of new digital tools for route planning and driver support
- development of business-driven operations related to materials and recycling
- work on long-term planning for facilities, final capping, and permitting issues
- new working methods and increased collaboration within a group that has undergone organizational changes

As a person, you are stable, communicative, and relationship-building, with the ability to prioritize in complex issues. You drive change in a responsive and solution-focused way and can easily translate development needs into practical improvements.
Requirements
- Documented leadership experience with budget responsibility and work environment responsibility.
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing
- Driving license B
Meritorious
- Experience from waste management, recycling, logistics, environment, community development, or construction industry.
- Experience in fee-financed operations or politically governed organizations
- Experience in change management and management team work
- Post-secondary education in areas such as technology, environment, community development, or similar
