Department Head for the Intensive Care Unit
We are looking for a department head for the Intensive Care Unit who, with a forward-looking attitude, wants to lead a well-functioning and structured unit with approximately 30 employees.
Your workplace
The Intensive Care Unit has two high-tech intensive care beds and four intermediate care beds. Here, patients from the medicine, surgery, and orthopedics departments are cared for. During on-call hours, we also receive postoperative patients. The hospital has emergency services around the clock.
The sense of community is always present at Torsby Hospital, and all units play a central role in the work with and around our patients. We are a small hospital in northern Värmland with a big heart and commitment to our patients and employees, where all units and partners are highlighted as an important part of the hub for ensuring smooth and safe operations for those who visit us. Good collaboration between units, short decision-making paths, and close contact with the management team are hallmarks of our organization. At the hospital, we care about the health and well-being of our staff, and we have access to our own staff gym and personal trainer.
Your responsibilities
As department head, you will have personnel, financial, and work environment responsibilities. The focus of the leadership role is to work with quality and improvement efforts with the patient and the flow of care at the center, as well as competence supply, which requires strategic leadership with a holistic view and collaboration with all parts of the healthcare system.
The department head reports directly to the area manager, and the area manager's staff serves as support for the department heads.
Your knowledge and competencies
We are looking for someone with a suitable healthcare education, preferably an (ICU) nurse, and experience in leadership within healthcare is an advantage. You are structured and have the ability to lead and develop the operations. You recognize and utilize the strengths of your employees, which means delegating and being interested in developing, renewing, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
The work requires clarity in leadership, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills, as well as financial understanding. As a department head, you will have many contact points both internally and externally. Therefore, it is important that you can create good and trusting relationships with people around you.
