The main goal and task of the Surgical Center Umeå is to provide highly specialized and high-quality care and research for patients within the northern healthcare region. The clinic is divided into sections for urology, breast, endocrine, vascular, colorectal, and upper gastrointestinal surgery, which are conducted in both outpatient and inpatient care.

We are now looking for an assistant nurse to join our wonderful team in the Abdominal and Vascular Surgery Department. Here, we care for patients with upper gastrointestinal diseases, colorectal diseases, and vascular diseases. At the Surgical Center, we value stimulating and varied work, and you will become part of a close-knit team with a strong sense of community. To facilitate for our healthcare staff, we have supportive functions such as pharmacists, receptionists, kitchen assistants, and patient-centered services in the departments.

We place great importance on providing you with a good introduction and favorable conditions to thrive and develop with us. The onboarding is individually tailored and lasts between 4 to 6 weeks. You have the opportunity to work according to a 3-3 schedule, which means approximately 88% working time with maintained full-time salary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an assistant nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel safe.

The surgical area encompasses many different diagnoses and operations, which gives you the opportunity to develop a broad competence and grow in your professional role. You will work with both planned and emergency patients within a highly specialized field.

As an assistant nurse, you are an important part of the care team and collaborate closely with nurses and doctors. Together, you are responsible for daily care, including nutrition, mobilization, wound care, and other tasks. You work closely with the patient and are responsible for identifying risks, assessing, addressing, and following up on the patient's care needs.

In addition to care work, your tasks will also include monitoring vital parameters, managing drains, taking venous samples, and performing wound and stoma changes. We work in fast healthcare chains where the goal is for the patient to quickly return to their previous life after surgery. With us, you will have a varied and educational job where you develop together with your team.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a certified assistant nurse education. Since assistant nurse is a protected title, you need to present a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare, or alternatively a work certificate that allows you to use the title until June 30, 2033, under the transitional regulations.

You have completed a course in emergency care. Experience in the profession is an advantage, but not a requirement.

We are looking for someone who is engaged and wants to contribute with knowledge and joy. You have a good command of the Swedish language in both speech and writing. You have a good demeanor, see the whole patient, and can adapt care based on the patient's various needs during their stay. You can handle multiple tasks simultaneously and see it as a challenge to work at a varied pace. You are positive and responsible. You should be able to work independently as well as in a team.
