Support Pedagogue for Grubbevägen

The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

Grubbevägen is a group home according to LSS for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The residence consists of six apartments connected to common areas, including an office and on-call room. The individual support primarily originates from the resident's apartment. Our operations are characterized by an environment where individuals are met with respect and professionalism, and where everyone is given the opportunity to develop based on their individual conditions.

We now need to expand our team with a support pedagogue!

Your Responsibilities

Together with your colleagues, you will support individuals with disabilities. You will work to make the individual involved in a functioning everyday life and to have a functional leisure time.

As a support pedagogue, you will work with evidence-based pedagogical methods to create security and structure in the daily lives of individuals with disabilities. You will guide staff in user-centered work and actively contribute to quality development, documentation, and the introduction of new colleagues. You will also be part of a network of support pedagogues where you will have the opportunity for experience exchange and continuous professional development.

You will work on behalf of your manager, and the assignments may vary over time depending on the needs of the operations.

Care work is included in the job and may involve, for example, personal hygiene, support during meals, cleaning and laundry, planning activities, accompanying individuals to medical appointments, medication delegation, and documentation.

  • There may be outwardly aggressive behavior in the operation. Heavy lifting may also occur, and mobility aids should be used.
  • Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and on-call nights. Within disability care, we work with joint planning with other operations.

About You

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference for the target group and who has good pedagogical skills. You have a strong commitment and desire to be involved in developing the operations. You are attentive, flexible, solution-focused, and have a good attitude, as well as being good at communicating and collaborating with all roles you encounter in your daily life. Personal suitability is of great importance.

To be able to communicate with users, colleagues, and other networks, write and access care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in the form of at least 200 YH points, support pedagogue, or another equivalent vocational education. Alternatively, 60 university credits in relevant courses related to disability care. Programs and/or courses with a clear focus on work with intellectual, cognitive, or mental disabilities. For example, in:
    • Ethical approaches
    • Pedagogical theories and methods
    • Alternative and augmentative communication (AAC)
    • Cognitive support
    • Coaching approaches
  • Several years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or other work experience that we find equivalent
