Your Role with Us

With us, you will not only take care of and develop our outdoor environments – you will also collaborate closely with various businesses, groups, and individuals who use our parks and green areas.

You will work with all types of park work in the municipality of Kristianstad, where we provide services to citizens and businesses. You are an ambassador for the city and our operations in our public spaces.

Your role includes being able to calmly, clearly, and respectfully explain how different tasks are performed, why certain safety routines exist, and how the park can be used in the best way. You will meet people of different ages and backgrounds, with different circumstances and needs in your work. Therefore, you need to adapt your approach, communicate in an inclusive way, and create understanding even in situations where knowledge levels or perspectives differ.

Building good relationships and ensuring safety in meetings with the public is part of the job, as is ensuring that our work is done in close dialogue with those who use our environments. This contributes to sustainable, accessible, and well-functioning outdoor environments where everyone feels welcome.

You will be part of a friendly team with varied tasks such as lawn mowing, trimming, hedge cutting, planting, weed control, tree felling/pruning, and maintenance. In addition to parks and summer flowers, we also manage outdoor environments at schools and preschools. You will work as a park worker but will also come into contact with other individuals in various labor market policy measures.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone with gardening education or equivalent training that the employer considers equivalent, as well as experience in professional work within park and garden maintenance and cultivation. It is advantageous if you have qualifications for brush cutters and chainsaw licenses A, B, E. It is also beneficial if you have experience driving trailers, larger ride-on mowers, smaller tractors, or other equipment carriers. If you have lift training, Work on the Road training 1 and 2, and/or arborist training, that is also advantageous, as well as documented experience in plant knowledge and pruning. Additionally, experience in chicken care is a plus.

Experience in coordinating activities where the interaction between people and pedagogy is important, as the Health Garden is a gathering place for many activities. Therefore, you need to adapt your approach, communicate inclusively, and create understanding even in situations where knowledge levels or perspectives differ.

It is advantageous if you have qualifications for brush cutters and chainsaw licenses A, B, E. Wheel loader qualification C2. It is also beneficial if you have experience driving trailers, larger ride-on mowers, and smaller tractors. The job requires computer skills and proficiency in the Office package. You communicate fluently in Swedish; it is a plus if you can also communicate in English. We want you to be comfortable speaking in front of groups and coordinating activities. A B driver's license for manual transmission is required for the position, but preferably also a BE license and C2 license. The work involves heavy lifting, which requires good physical condition.

You are a flexible, meticulous, and service-oriented person with good teamwork skills who can also work independently. You have the ability to follow instructions and adhere to set timelines and deliver results. You collaborate well with people in various contexts and functions and need to have social competence when meeting different people in your work. You will also work on creating instructions/plans in consultation with relevant businesses.

When you are offered employment, a criminal record extract from the police must be presented before employment. A probationary period may be applicable.

About Us

You will belong to the construction department, which consists of three units: execution and resources, the operations unit, and the specialist unit. The unit is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of public land; streets, pedestrian/cycle paths, park areas, and lighting. The construction department also performs green space maintenance on property land on behalf of the property department. Other orders are continuously received from the municipality's various administrations.

The Technical Committee is responsible through the technical administration for the development, construction, and management of the municipality's public spaces and buildings. The committee also has the task of organizing municipal water and sewage supply (VA) and is the road authority for municipal roads.
