Kalmar parish consists of five city congregations with nearly 22,000 members.

The parish has about 90 employees with a well-functioning administration. We celebrate services and conduct parish activities in our parish churches, where many volunteers also contribute to the vibrant parish life. The parish's burial operations are conducted at two beautiful cemeteries and a modern crematorium.

Kalmar Cathedral is looking for a church musician with a choral profile

We are looking for someone who wants to be an important part of the continued development of the cathedral's worship and music life and who has a clear focus on worship life in their church music work.

You are a team player who easily coordinates and collaborates both internally and externally, you are a good choir leader and comfortable at the organ, and you are passionate about uplifting hymn singing and liturgical music.

You have completed church musician training for service in the Church of Sweden and have advanced academic studies in choral conducting within the framework of organist training or in another way, as well as several years of experience working in parish service.

In this position, you will work closely with your two church musician colleagues in the cathedral and collaborate with other church musician colleagues in the parish.

Currently, there are 8 choirs in Kalmar Cathedral, and you will be an important piece of the puzzle in the work to develop the existing choir ladder.

Kalmar Cathedral is an important part of the diocese's presence in the eastern part of the Växjö diocese and is often referred to as Sweden's foremost Baroque cathedral. The church has three organs of very high quality. The music life in Kalmar Cathedral has been very important for the city's cultural and musical life for several hundred years. We prioritize and value the work of keeping the cathedral as a church music hub for the entire region. A challenge for the future is to continue striving to create space and development opportunities for young people to grow and partake in the richness of church music life.
