About Us

The Psychosis Department is an acute psychiatric ward with 13 beds, primarily aimed at the care of individuals suffering from psychosis. The care is designed from a holistic perspective, taking into account the individual's specific needs and overall life situation. The ward provides pharmacological treatment, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), supportive conversations, and nursing based on person-centered care. We also consider the individual's social and economic situation, with support from a social worker. A psychologist is also available.

We are about 25 people working in the department, consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, and medical secretaries. You will work in a care team where the goal is to provide each unique individual with good care. In the Psychosis Department, we continuously strive to provide and develop person-centered care, which we believe you would like to be a part of.

We have initiated a centralization in Sörmland of LRV care to the Psychosis Department at Mälarsjukhuset for patients who are in the transition phase from Karsudden forensic psychiatry.

Your Responsibilities

Typical nursing tasks included in the care work are, for example, medication distribution, technical nursing tasks such as sampling, inserting IVs, wound care, catheter management, handling EKGs and bladder scanners. Conduct motivating and supportive conversations, observe, document in the Cosmic journal system, write care plans, report, and be engaged in the development work of the department.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed nurse, and for the position, it is required that you, in addition to your professional knowledge, can work both independently and in a team. You should be able to take your own initiatives, be flexible, and have good collaboration skills. Specialist training in psychiatry is an advantage, but great emphasis is placed on experience, references, genuine commitment, a desire to develop care, good communication skills, and personal qualities.
