ICU Nurse at Halland Hospital

Job Responsibilities

As an ICU nurse with us, you will work with standard tasks in a general ICU and our postoperative unit. In the ICU, we care for a variety of medical conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, pain issues, cardiac arrest, trauma, and many other diagnoses. Since we are a medium-sized hospital without a university hospital in our region, we may need to prepare everything from children to trauma before transport to larger hospitals where more specialized care is required. The ICU nurses with more experience also accompany some ambulance transports.

We also serve as a resource for the entire hospital as we work with MIG (Mobile Intensive Care Group). MIG means that other departments can consult us in the ICU regarding their patients. A doctor and an ICU nurse then visit the department for a joint assessment and any suggestions for actions or admissions to our ICU.

We also work with the PIG group (Post Intensive Care Group) where we follow up on ICU patients who have been with us for a long time and/or have a need for follow-up after ICU care has ended.

In the postop unit, the pace is varied as the flow is determined by need. We primarily care for patients who are admitted to the hospital. The varied flow is governed by the day's procedures and how long the different procedures take. This also means that you should have a sense of logistics and enjoy moments of higher work pace.

We have invested in internal training and have repeated training sessions during the weeks as well as training days once per term. We have simulation exercises regularly to practice different scenarios and improve our collaboration. We have a working time model based on working time reduction relative to how many nights you work.

The position we are advertising is for day/evening shifts.

About the Workplace

At the ICU in Varberg, about 70 nurses and nursing assistants work together. Our department is a general ICU with 6 beds. We also have a postoperative service with 12 beds for inpatient surgery. Since the ICU and postop are part of our operations, the work is varied.

We offer a fantastic and developing workplace with competent colleagues who work with the patient at the center. We have a wonderful outdoor area where patients can be mobilized directly from the operating room and a place where staff can enjoy both coffee breaks and lunch outside. The family rooms are very generous, and we also have a beautiful farewell room.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with a degree from further education in intensive care and who is on the way to something new, exciting, and challenging.
