Youth Field Malmö works proactively with children and young people in various environments in the city. With the new social services act, this approach is further strengthened, and the operation is now in a development phase. Therefore, we are recruiting more colleagues who want to contribute to early and relationship-building work for young people in Malmö.

Job Responsibilities

Youth Field Malmö is looking for more colleagues who can meet young people who are out in the city during evenings, nights, and weekends. We work preventively with youth aged 12–21, focusing on those at risk of crime, substance abuse, or other behaviors that may hinder positive development. Youth Field is divided into four geographical areas with four people in each team.

You will work out in the field, and the majority of the work is done on foot. You will build relationships with young people and their parents outdoors in the field, on social media, or over the phone. You will identify at-risk youth who may need to be referred to the right intervention for additional support. You will regularly collaborate with the police, schools, other units within social services, civil society, and other actors working with youth in the city.

The crime and drug prevention work is conducted from a clear authority role. The assignment also includes work at various larger events for young people.

Youth Field is based on various conversation models, including MI, and you will have the opportunity to develop in conversations and methods for outreach and relationship-building work. We regularly work with feedback, various method developments, and have supervision in the teams. Youth Field Malmö is also part of Malmö City's crisis support organization and may be activated during working hours as crisis supporters during special events. These events can vary and require flexibility and mental stability.

As an employer, we actively and systematically work for a safe and secure working environment. This means clear routines, teamwork, support from colleagues and managers, and a continuous focus on safety and security in fieldwork.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a degree as a social worker, social educator (YH, 400 points/2 years), or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
  • Has at least 2 years of experience in social work
  • Has experience working with youth
  • Has a B driver's license (automatic license is sufficient).
  • Speaks and writes very good Swedish.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Good knowledge of Malmö, both as a city and as a politically governed organization.
  • Experience in fieldwork.
  • Experience collaborating with schools, other authorities, and civil society.
  • Experience in authority work within social services.
  • Knowledge of prevention work with the target group.
  • Training in MI, Repulse, Solution Focus, or other relevant training.
  • Experience following safety and security routines.
  • Experience documenting in various systems.
  • Language skills in the most common languages in Malmö.
  • Experience working independently and in teams.

You have the courage to work in the field and be present in various environments in the city, even in socially vulnerable areas. You feel comfortable reaching out to young people and young adults and can create trusting relationships when meeting people with different life experiences.

You have good collaboration skills and enjoy working in teams, while also being able to take responsibility and work independently when the situation requires it. You communicate clearly, are attentive, and contribute to a professional and respectful approach. The work requires flexibility, and you easily adapt to changing conditions in a developing organization.

The working hours are scheduled and irregular, mainly in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends (approximately every fourth week). Work shifts can end as late as around 10:30 PM on weekdays. Individual shifts can be up to about 10 hours long, and on average, the work occurs about four days a week.

Welcome with your application!
