Assistant Nurse for Surgical Operations

Our Offer

Job Description

You will be an important part of maintaining our high quality and availability in an operation where collaboration, competence, and commitment are at the center. We do not have explicit section work but want everyone to have a broad competence and readiness to handle on-call work. You will take care of both emergency operations and planned surgeries.

Your tasks include patient care, responsibility for and handling of both IT systems and medical technology. At the same time, you need to support both the surgical nurse with preparations of instruments and setup before surgeries and the anesthetic nurse with patient monitoring and anesthesia preparations. You are responsible, together with the rest of the surgical team, for preparing the operating room before each procedure by checking that necessary equipment is in place and functioning. You will work as part of the surgical team inside the operating room but also as a resource outside the rooms. The work requires precision, good collaboration skills, and the ability to work in a structured manner in a high-tech environment where safety and precision are crucial. You will work at a varied pace with both planned and emergency surgeries. As your competence and ability increase, you will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility. We also perform donation surgeries, which we want you to learn and be a part of in the long run.

Our operational development largely relies on employees contributing solutions, engagement, and time for responsibility work distributed proportionally according to what the operation prioritizes. Since we receive students from various training programs, there is a responsibility for supervision at different levels.

Work Group

Every day you work with patients together with the surgical nurse, anesthetic nurse, specialist assistant nurse, as well as anesthetists and operators. The work group is stable, and there is a wealth of experience within all professional categories. We want you to be prepared to contribute to making your colleagues better and therefore have high demands on reception, communication, feedback, and teamwork.

We are currently in an exciting period where we are getting new, fresh premises. The renovation is taking place alongside our ongoing operations, which will affect our daily lives in various ways until everything is completed by 2030.

About You

To work as an assistant nurse, you need:

• Approved high school education with at least 2250 points, Care and Nursing program or equivalent
• For adult education, approved high school education corresponding to at least 1400 points in Care and Nursing education or equivalent.

It is desirable to have a diploma from certified training via the Care and Nursing College, applicable to both youth and adult education.

We want you to have an overview, take responsibility for what you do, and act based on what is best for the operation. You are good at planning and prioritizing, making quick and thoughtful decisions, and getting things done. You have a high ability to collaborate well with others, communicate in an open and attentive manner, and resolve any conflicts in a fair and constructive way. Even when things are busy, you remain calm, focus on the right things, and adapt to the situation to contribute to a safe and stable care environment.

We would like you to have previous experience working in the surgical department. If you have training in reception, communication, or teamwork, we see it as an advantage. Since you work in constant dialogue with patients and colleagues, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.
