About the Orthopedic Department

Sahlgrenska University Hospital is the largest provider of orthopedic care in the country, with about 500 employees. We provide county and regional healthcare and have several national assignments. Within the orthopedic department, we work to treat, care for, and rehabilitate patients with injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. We perform urgent and planned surgeries and treatments. We receive and treat patients from all over Sweden in specialized areas such as foot, spine, prosthetic, and arthroscopic surgery.

We strive to provide good care of high quality and conduct high-quality research, development, and education. Our operations are primarily conducted at Mölndal Hospital but are also present at Drottning Silvia's Children's and Adolescents' Hospital and Sahlgrenska Hospital. The orthopedics at Sahlgrenska University Hospital has a long tradition of research and is internationally prominent in several clinical areas.

Our wards at Mölndal Hospital are highly specialized departments for acute and planned orthopedic care.
