We are now looking for a chef for the central kitchen at Ludvigborg School.

Meal Service in Västervik Municipality is looking for a cheerful, creative, and structured person to strengthen the team at Ludvigborg School's central kitchen. With us, you will work on preparing nutritious, sustainable, and varied meals for children and students, in an operation where quality, service, and care are at the center.

The meals follow the municipality's guidelines and are based on a holistic view where health, quality, and sustainability are central. We offer varied menus with as little ready-made and semi-finished products as possible and actively work to develop climate-smart meals and sustainable ingredient usage.

The work as a chef means that you are responsible for preparing lunch for approximately 1500–2000 portions for children in preschool and students in primary school and after-school care. The job also requires that you be able to step in and prepare special diets in the special diet kitchen at Ludvigborg School when needed, as we apply job rotation in our operations.

Your Responsibilities

• Preparation of lunch according to Västervik Municipality's menu
• Ingredient-based cooking, focusing on nutritious and sustainable meals according to the municipality's meal policy
• Handling and preparation of special diets according to applicable guidelines
• Work in the school restaurant, including daily contact with high school students and staff
• Ordering, delivery control, and unpacking of goods
• Dishes, cleaning, and hygiene routines
• Self-control and work according to HACCP

Your Competence

We are looking for someone with education in restaurant and food programs or equivalent competence that the employer assesses as equivalent. We prefer that you have good knowledge of special diets and food hygiene. It is an advantage if you have worked in school kitchens and practical handling of the entire cooking process.

We value that you have a strong interest in preparing nutritious, sustainable, and varied food and that you work according to Meal Service's ambition to create food that is healthy, climate-smart, and sustainable.

As a person, you are structured, self-driven, have good collaboration skills, and a service-oriented approach, especially in contact with children and students.

We prefer that you are flexible, responsible, and have the ability to plan your work. You thrive in an environment where quality, child perspective, and development are central parts, and where the meal is seen as an important part of the school day. For this position, you are required to have basic computer skills and to master the Swedish language in speech and writing.

Other

A B driver's license with experience in manual transmission is required for the position. Since the work involves contact with children, you must be able to present an extract from the police's criminal record when offered employment.
