Are you a confident leader who wants to be part of SSAB's journey towards the world's first fossil-free steel company? Do you also want to be part of our journey towards world-class maintenance? Then this could be your next challenge.

Becoming a part of the SSAB family means joining a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future and sustainability of our planet. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. Therefore, we have developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production, and by around 2030 we will be virtually fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be crucial in realizing this goal and thereby contributing to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the position

As the section manager for maintenance, you will lead your operations towards set goals with a present leadership characterized by continuous improvements. SSAB's vision is to become the world's safest steel company while creating a lighter, stronger, and more sustainable world. Diversity and equal value for all are important to us; we believe we are best together.

In your section Maintenance Steelworks, you will be responsible for four sections: Media, Technology, Electrical/IT, and Mechanical maintenance, totaling over 65 employees, including 4 managers. The position is part of the management team for the Steelworks department.

As section manager, you are responsible for your personnel's work environment, and you have responsibility for the facility, which includes operational reliability as well as budget and investments. You are expected, together with your employees, to break down SSAB's strategy into local action plans, goals, and KPIs, and to follow up on each area's contribution to it. You will also play a significant role in the strategic work towards the Steelworks' transformation journey towards fossil-free operations. As a leader, you are coaching and driven to see others develop. You are also good at implementing and following up on decisions made. Working systematically with continuous improvements is a given for you.

Your main responsibilities

  • To create short- and long-term maintenance and investment plans together with your employees and follow up on the functionality of the facilities.
  • Develop working methods and approaches for corrective and preventive maintenance as well as improvement maintenance, which means systematically taking measures aimed at improving operational reliability of the facilities and equipment in the area.
  • Work closely with production to ensure effective communication and collaboration between sections.
  • Since safety is the highest priority at SSAB, you will be a key person in developing safety within your area of responsibility.

About you

  • You are an open, positive, and attentive team player with a good ability to collaborate closely with others.
  • You want to work on developing people, facilities, and working methods through a coaching leadership style.
  • You also understand the importance of leading others by first leading yourself. As a person, we see you as confident, clear, and structured in your approach.
  • You are proactive, take initiative, and enjoy social contexts. You are comfortable in the role of management representative and can make and stand by difficult decisions when needed. You are used to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • You should also have a strong sense of responsibility and be positively inclined towards changes and development.
  • You have work experience as a manager and leader, preferably within industry or similar operations.
  • You have experience leading change and remain steady when many things are happening at once.
  • You have a university degree in a relevant field or equivalent documented knowledge.
  • You are technically knowledgeable and interested in production, maintenance, and processes.
  • If you have previous experience working with projects, maintenance, or production, this is a merit.
  • If you have knowledge of how the maintenance process works within SSAB, this is also a merit.
  • As we work in an international environment, you need to be able to speak and write both English and Swedish fluently.
