The mission of the Community Building Administration is to actively work for a safe, secure, and sustainable municipality with a good environment for everyone living, working, and visiting Örnsköldsvik.

We build best together in our vision that Örnsköldsvik in 2030 is a creative hub with strong development where initiatives and ideas are valued. A place for 5,000 more with hope for the future. Here, people feel security, community, and joy.

The Culture and Leisure Department of the Community Building Administration works to create meaningful leisure for our residents and to encourage visitors to return. As a curator for public art, you will work in the unit for culture and outdoor life, based at the Örnsköldsvik Museum and Art Hall.

We see active and outward-facing work with public art as a resource for development in our municipality. Through art in public spaces, residents and visitors are offered the opportunity to observe and reflect on both places and our time. As a curator, you share this perspective and work to make knowledge about public art accessible and disseminate it.

Responsibilities

Your main focus is to manage the public art collection, drive the ongoing procurement process forward, and participate in program activities and knowledge dissemination.

You will be based at the Örnsköldsvik Museum & Art Hall, but the assignment covers the entire municipality. We work with a flexible approach, which means you have the opportunity to work remotely part of your working hours if the tasks allow.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with broad knowledge of art and public design. You have a university degree in art history or relevant work experience that we consider equivalent.

You know how the procurement of art works and can support artists in their processes. You are structured and work methodically towards set deadlines. You have excellent communication skills in both speech and writing. Personal suitability is highly valued. The work is, in many respects, independent, so a strong ability to translate “words into action” is required.

A valid driver's license with category B is a requirement.

Selection and interviews may occur on an ongoing basis. Please attach your CV and cover letter with your application.

We welcome language skills in Finnish and/or any of the Sámi varieties as Örnsköldsvik Municipality is part of both Finnish and Sámi administrative areas.

In our municipality, several positions are classified in security class, so security checks may be conducted. These positions require Swedish citizenship.
