Your New Workplace

In preparation for 2026, we are strengthening the organization of primary schools by appointing four school librarian positions.

The positions are located at four different units, where each school librarian has their physical workplace and is based on the daily operations of the school. School libraries are an important part of the school's educational mission and contribute to students' learning, language and reading development, and information literacy. As a school librarian, you will be part of a larger context where collaboration between schools, educators, and central functions is essential to develop an equitable and high-quality school library service for all students.

Your Contribution as a School Librarian

As a school librarian, you have overall responsibility for developing and strengthening the school library service within a school library area. The assignment involves working strategically and long-term in close collaboration with both central functions and the educational activities in schools.

Your tasks include, among others:

• developing the work of school libraries within your school library area.
• collaborating across the municipality with central resources for school libraries, the school library network, and other school librarians and library coordinators.
• driving and developing the school library service based on applicable governing documents.
• collaborating with teachers and other educational staff to ensure that the school library is an integrated part of the school's educational activities.
• in collaboration with the principal and the school's working team, specifying, following up, and developing the library's goals and activities within the framework of the school's systematic quality work.
• creating structures and routines that enable and strengthen student influence.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in library and information science, or another academic education that the employer deems relevant for the position. A pedagogical education is an advantage.

You have practical experience in library operations. Experience in school library operations, pedagogical experience, knowledge of schools in general, and work with youth are desirable.

You also have basic IT skills and good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Due to the nature of the work, which requires you to move smoothly between different operations, a B driver's license is a requirement for the position. It is advantageous if you have good knowledge of English and experience working with library systems.

We are looking for a school librarian with good collaboration skills who enjoys working both independently and in close relationships with students, educators, and school management. You are structured, service-oriented, and have an easy time creating and developing trusting relationships in your professional role.
