School Librarian for Boklådan

Boklådan is a public and school library as well as Örnsköldsvik municipality's school library center, a pedagogical resource for staff and students in the municipality. You will work closely with students and teachers at Själevadskolan, colleagues at the school library center, and the public library.

Responsibilities

You will be part of all tasks at Boklådan. Responsibilities include working at the lending desk, receiving classes in the library, responding to patrons via phone and email, and performing some administration of the book boxes sent to preschools and schools. The position also includes reading current children's and youth literature and collaborating with others in promoting reading.

You will collaborate with school staff to find ways to develop the school library and integrate the library into teaching. Supporting students and teachers in information retrieval and source criticism is also part of your work.

Together with the school library coordinator, colleagues at the school library center, and the public library, you will plan and implement reading promotion activities and media and information literacy education.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or another higher education qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. You should also have a genuine interest in promoting reading and language development.

You should have good IT skills. If you have experience working with media and information literacy (MIK), we consider that an advantage.

As a person, you find it easy to collaborate with others, are service-oriented, and have a pleasant demeanor. You enjoy working with others but can also work independently. You adapt easily to changes and are solution-oriented.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

A driver's license (category B) and access to a personal vehicle are advantageous.
