The Interpretation Center is part of Assistive Technology Västerbotten and offers interpreting services to residents of Västerbotten County as well as to other clients. Our users include deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind individuals. We operate throughout the county and have offices in both Skellefteå and Umeå with a total of about 20 employees. We strive to be inclusive and advocate for our users' right to communicate and live independently.

We provide interpretation in all of life's situations and use digital solutions to offer interpreting services both remotely and on-site with the user. We also offer some remote work opportunities under given conditions – we provide a flexible workplace.

We are now looking for a sign language and deafblind interpreter for our operations in Skellefteå. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a sign language and deafblind interpreter with us, you contribute knowledge and engagement that makes people feel secure.

With us, you will have a varied and meaningful workday. Primarily, you will work with interpretation in many different contexts and situations, contributing to creating communication and participation. In addition to interpreting assignments, you will participate in the organization’s other work, such as in areas of responsibility and development projects. In this role, you will also handle some routine administrative tasks. Working hours are monthly and can be scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends. On-call duty is included in the employment, and travel within the county may occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has an approved education as a sign language and deafblind interpreter. Experience in the interpreting profession or further education as a transcription interpreter is an advantage. For this position, we place great emphasis on personal suitability. To succeed in this role, you should have good collaboration skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. You create contact when meeting people and build trusting relationships. You have a B driver's license and good digital competence, meaning you are accustomed to using email, calendars, and administrative systems in your work.
