Librarian Wanted for SARA Cultural Center

We are now looking for a librarian who wants to help develop the important role of libraries in society – book by book, meeting by meeting.

YOUR ROLE

As a librarian with us, you will primarily work at the City Library in the SARA Cultural Center. If needed, you may also work at one of our local libraries. Your mission fundamentally involves meeting people and providing them access to literature, information, and experiences that strengthen both the individual and democracy.

You will work with both digital and physical information sources, fiction and non-fiction, as well as promoting digital inclusion. An important part of the role is the library's reading promotion work, where you contribute to stimulating language development and reading enthusiasm. You will guide visitors both individually and in groups, in the library and in public spaces. You will also participate in planning and executing activities that enhance visitors' experiences and engagement in the library's activities.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way. Previous experience in library work is an advantage.

You have excellent communication skills in Swedish and can make complex information clear for different target groups, adapting your communication style to meet visitors' needs. You can also communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing. You have the ability and interest to use and develop digital tools and new media to support and inspire library visitors. You are curious and proactive in trying and implementing digital solutions that enhance the user experience.

Service and approachability are natural parts of your work style. You create positive encounters and adapt your approach to the visitor's needs, always with care and respect. You enjoy meeting people, take initiative, and build trusting relationships. At the same time, you are solution-oriented and stable, handling unforeseen situations calmly and finding practical solutions to arising problems.
