Riksantikvarieämbetet is looking for a software developer

Riksantikvarieämbetet is the national authority that leads and supports the work of preserving, using, and developing cultural heritage. Our operations are located in Visby, Stockholm, and Tumba, and we also conduct public activities at the visitor site Glimmingehus. We have approximately 250 employees.

What we do

We develop the digitization of cultural heritage and contribute to the preservation, use, and development of our cultural heritage.

We develop services that allow users to explore archaeological sites using geodata, search for and compare runic texts, experience museum collections digitally, and provide decision support that enables urban planners to integrate cultural heritage and cultural environments into community building, among other things.

We work in a team-based, agile, and self-organizing manner in close collaboration with engaged clients and experts in the field. We also collaborate with other authorities, municipalities, county administrative boards, universities, colleges, and private actors.

Who are you?

You have a relevant university degree in computer science or similar and have worked with software development for more than five years. You are interested in cultural heritage and cultural environments and want to learn more. Experience with government work and/or the areas of cultural environments and cultural heritage is welcome.

You are familiar with the following technologies, either through work or studies:

• Java
• Spring Boot 4
• PostgreSQL
• DevOps tools, version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines
• Kubernetes

It is also interesting if you have experience with the following:

• Neo4j
• Graphql
• Cypher
• Kafka 4
• RDF
• Gradle
• CIDOC-CRM and/or LinkedArt

As the language in our datasets and services is Swedish, you need good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.

Your role with us

You will be part of an agile team that builds Riksantikvarieämbetet's digital services. Most team members are based in Gotland, but our collaboration takes place through digital tools, and physical presence is rarely necessary. However, occasional travel to Visby will be part of the job if you work from Stockholm.

You collaborate effectively, both within your own unit and with other colleagues in the authority as well as external parties, while also being able to take initiative to get things done. You question traditional approaches and promote change and innovative thinking. You can quickly understand and analyze complex issues and can pedagogically visualize your ideas for others.
