JOB DESCRIPTION

The position of school librarian involves being responsible for the school libraries at two schools in the municipality, Nibbleskolan and Näslundsskolan. Nibbleskolan is a school with about 400 students and around 60 staff members, while Näslundsskolan has about 220 students and around 30 staff members. The schools are located about 3 km apart. Both schools currently have an established school library.

There is a need to change, develop, and strengthen the operations at both schools. We do this by providing the schools with access to a professionally trained school librarian. Your contributions will not be limited to the library, as you will also be part of the teaching. A new school library plan exists and will reach our goals through various activities.

In collaboration with educators, you will create a classroom-related operation to stimulate reading development and language skills, as well as build students' digital competence.

Your tasks include:

• constantly striving to improve operations within the framework of the school's systematic quality work.
• being involved in creating a relevant media collection based on the schools' needs and priorities.
• organizing reading-promoting activities.
• creating an environment that contributes to reading enjoyment and learning.
• strengthening the school's reading culture and promoting students' motivation to read.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or another academic education that we deem relevant for the position. You have documented experience of working with children and young people in the role of school librarian.

You also need good digital competence to conduct teaching on source criticism and internet ethics.

To thrive in the role of school librarian with us, you need to be self-driven and able to take your own initiatives, while also enjoying collaborating with others. You should also be someone who can present different parts to a larger group of people - both students and staff at the school.

As travel is included in the position, a B driver's license is required.
