School Librarian at Gäddeholm School

With us, you will have an exciting opportunity to help build one of the city's newest and largest school libraries. You will be a key person in the school's reading promotion work and an important part of the students' learning. Together, we want to create a school library that is vibrant, welcoming, and inspiring.

Your Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the school library's operations and drive its development as a natural and important part of the school's pedagogical work. In this role, you will plan and implement book talks, reading projects, theme days, and other reading promotion activities, and you will work closely with teachers to integrate the library's resources into teaching in a meaningful way. You will also be responsible for purchasing and selecting current fiction and non-fiction literature, tailored for the school's various student groups, and support students in information retrieval, source criticism, and digital reading skills. Through your engagement and presence, you will contribute to making the library a lively and inspiring place that sparks curiosity, fosters a love for reading, and provides students with good conditions for learning and development.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in library and information science, or another academic education that we consider relevant. Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about children's and young people's reading and who, with enthusiasm and curiosity, wants to help build a school library that is truly used and appreciated. You have a good knowledge of children's and youth literature and enjoy inspiring students to read, whether it involves recommending books, creating reading promotion activities, or simply being a safe and welcoming adult in the library. You find it easy to collaborate and meet students in various ways, and you see the school library as a living place where everyone should feel welcome. It is a plus if you have experience working with children and young people and if you have previously worked in libraries or school libraries.

Gäddeholm School will move into a brand new and modern school building this autumn, where the school library will have a central and important role, and you will be involved from the start in shaping both content, methods, and environment.
