Assistant Nurse to the Surgical Department

The hospitals in the west are an administration within the Västra Götaland region and consist of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. About Us at the Surgical Department

The Surgical Department is a general surgical care unit that is part of the Surgery and Orthopedics operation.

In 2019, we moved into our new premises at the hospital. The new department has 23 care places designed so that each team of nurses, nursing assistants, paramedics, and doctors has a good working environment with modern technology that provides good conditions for delivering patient-safe, person-centered care together with patients and relatives.

We primarily investigate and treat patients with acute surgical diseases in the abdomen and gastrointestinal tract, traumatic surgical injuries, and urological issues. We receive both acutely ill patients and patients coming for planned surgery. The department also has a close collaboration with the Palliative team and manages five action places for patients enrolled in the palliative team.

Job Responsibilities

As a nursing assistant in the Surgical Department, you will never work alone. We work in teams that collaborate closely with various healthcare professionals. We have a close partnership with the Surgical Clinic, the Palliative team, dieticians, and local healthcare teams.

Introduction

We arrange a safe and supportive orientation for 4 weeks based on your needs.

Qualifications

You are a trained nursing assistant with previous healthcare experience from somatic inpatient care with a surgical and/or palliative focus. We expect you to have a good ability to plan and coordinate your work. Your working style is characterized by being driven, independent, and flexible.

Protected Job Title for Nursing Assistants

As of July 1, 2023, nursing assistant is a protected job title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within healthcare and social services.
