Group Manager for Intro Engineering Department

The Volvo Group contributes to increased prosperity by offering transport and infrastructure solutions such as trucks, buses, construction equipment, and engines for marine and industrial applications, as well as financing and services that enhance customer uptime and productivity. Our headquarters is located in Gothenburg, Sweden, and our stock is listed on Nasdaq in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Volvo Buses factory in Borås is the hub of our global production of bus chassis. Here, the majority of our total volume is produced, while the factory supplies assembly plants around the world with materials, methods, and production support.

We are now looking for an experienced Group Manager for the Intro Engineering Department – a key role for those who want to take clear leadership responsibility at the intersection of product development and production, and who are driven to develop both people and industrial processes in a complex manufacturing environment.

About the Business

Intro Engineering is responsible for production preparation of both new and existing products and plays a crucial role in the industrialization of Volvo Buses' products. The department ensures that new solutions can be implemented efficiently, safely, and with quality robustness – locally in Borås and globally in our assembly plants.

The department consists of approximately 20 specialists in preparation, production engineering, and material preparation and is a central partner to both product development and assembly operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Production preparation of new and existing products
  • Assembly instructions, methods, tools, and production layouts
  • Ergonomics, quality, and industrialization analyses
  • Management and implementation of product changes
  • Balancing and optimizing two assembly flows
  • Material preparation
  • Documentation and standards used in international assembly plants

Your Mission

As Group Manager for Intro Engineering, you have a clear overall responsibility for people, operations, and results. Your mission is both operational and strategic, focusing on stable delivery today and development for tomorrow.

Your role includes:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a group of experienced and qualified employees
  • Setting direction and driving the department's strategic development
  • Ensuring effective working methods at the interface between product development, production, and global assembly units
  • Prioritizing and making decisions in an environment with parallel initiatives and changes
  • Driving continuous improvements in quality, efficiency, work environment, and industrialization
  • Building long-term competence and creating strong engagement within the team

Who Are You?

We are looking for a confident, experienced, and present leader with a solid background in production or production engineering. You are accustomed to leading specialists and navigating in technically complex organizations where collaboration and clarity are crucial for success.

You:

  • Have several years of experience as a manager or leader
  • Are used to driving change and development in industrial operations
  • Have a good technical understanding of production engineering and industrialization
  • Communicate clearly and build trust in both teams and collaboration forums
  • Thrive on taking responsibility, making decisions, and standing by your direction

We See That You Have:

  • A university degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

What Do We Offer You?

At Volvo Buses, you will receive:

  • A strategically important leadership role in an international industrial environment
  • The opportunity to influence industrialization, working methods, and competence development
  • Work in a company with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and people
  • Be part of a management team with experience, collaboration, and a clear mandate

Diversity and inclusion are an integral part of Volvo Buses' values. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and perspectives and particularly encourage women to apply for this role.

Employment type: Permanent. The application deadline for this position is February 15.
