Librarian for the Library Unit

The Culture and Leisure Administration consists of a library and a leisure unit, as well as a swimming hall, culture school, and youth centers. The administration is also responsible for the municipality's association matters and public health issues.

We are now looking for a librarian for our library unit with competence and commitment to libraries and culture, primarily for children and youth.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The libraries in Malung-Sälen municipality are well-visited and focus on our activities for children. We also staff the municipality's school libraries at certain times.

You will work together with the team to develop outreach efforts aimed at encouraging children, youth, and adults to read and participate in cultural activities, and we welcome your contributions to this work.

The municipality has a book bus that visits all parts of the municipality on a regular basis, and it may be part of your job to drive one of the routes. It is a small book bus and requires a B driver's license.

The position includes tasks typically found in public libraries. Evening and weekend work is included.

The job involves meeting many people, including the public, associations, and school children - therefore, we have a high ambition regarding reception and service. Since the team is small, we are looking for someone who is self-driven and full of energy.

Job responsibilities include:

• working with the library's prioritized target groups, primarily children and youth
• planning and implementing outreach activities in collaboration with other actors and organizations
• program planning for library activities
• book orders, managing the book collection, weeding

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a university degree in library and information science. Experience working in public libraries is desirable.

A B driver's license is required, as we are a geographically extensive municipality.

As you will be working with children, a background check will be required upon employment.
