Description

The City Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.

We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.

The City Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to help develop attractive, safe, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas with great and competent colleagues? Then we have a seasonal job for you!

As a seasonal employee, you will be clearly visible at our bathing areas, and many visitors in Gothenburg may turn to you with questions regarding the bathing area and tourist-related inquiries. This means you will be the face of the City Environment Administration and Gothenburg City while you work.

The City Environment Administration is now looking for bathing area hosts to perform tasks such as cleaning bathing areas. Job responsibilities include, for example, litter picking, maintenance and cleaning of the bathing area's toilets, keeping bathing ladders free from algae, and supervising the bathing area's facilities. The work involves using handheld machines such as trimmers for weed control. Driving is required as the work is carried out at the city's beautiful outdoor baths. You will start from Ringön or Askim and share responsibility for a couple of bathing areas with colleagues and site coordinators.

If needed, you may also need to step in as a street cleaner in the city or as a beach cleaner in the archipelago. As a street cleaner, you will perform tasks such as cleaning and weed control of the city's streets, squares, parks, and playgrounds.

Working hours vary with day and evening shifts, as well as weekend work during the period from approximately June 8 to August 16.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed high school education or experience deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Category B driver's license
  • Good driving experience and is comfortable driving vehicles in both central parts of Gothenburg and in tight spaces.
  • Good physical ability as the position involves heavier tasks, even in hilly terrain.
  • Previous experience in similar work or service occupations.
  • Is a competent swimmer and can swim at least 200 meters and dive if necessary.
  • Can communicate in Swedish both verbally and in writing.
  • Can manage digital channels on computer and mobile.

To succeed in this position, you need to be meticulous, have good collaboration skills, and be independent as you will be responsible for your tasks. You should have a good attitude and care about ensuring that residents, visitors, and businesses have a pleasant experience. In the event of sudden weather changes and unforeseen events, you need to be flexible and able to make quick decisions and adjust plans. You are service-oriented and work with everything from blocking off bathing ladders to guiding visitors to our barbecue areas. Your hosting duties also include informing about, for example, barbecue and dog bans as well as water quality. As the day comes to an end, you ensure that everything is cleaned and organized for the next day.

Welcome with your application!

Conditions

With us, you will work in an administration focused on development, collaboration, and diversity. We offer, among other things, flexible working hours (with exceptions in certain departments), wellness benefits, and cycling perks - so you can combine an exciting job with a sustainable private life.

As an employer, we have an obligation to ensure that you have the right to reside and work in Sweden. Therefore, at a physical interview, you will need to show a passport or national ID card. We will also check your driver's license during the interview.

Selection and interviews are ongoing, so don't wait to apply!
