Urban Planner at Orsa Municipality

The work with physical planning in Orsa Municipality is facing exciting changes.

We will have the opportunity to build a new way of working when the Business and Community Development Unit is set to take over the responsibility for physical planning on July 1, 2026. Are you an experienced urban planner who finds this an interesting challenge? Then you might be the person we are looking for!

We at the Business and Community Development Unit work with community planning, land, development, streets, parks, business development, and much more. We are currently a close-knit group of six people, and we truly enjoy our work. It is important to us that we work together, share our expertise, and support each other. Both working hours and workplace are flexible, as far as the work allows.

Responsibilities

Together with the unit manager, you will be responsible for building the new organization, finding the right competencies, and good working methods for an efficient and service-oriented planning process. The role of the urban planner means that you will work with physical planning according to the Planning and Building Act. You will design and handle comprehensive and detailed plans and drive your own projects, from preliminary work to planning phase and implementation. You will produce investigations and analyses and be responsible for establishing planning proposals in consultation with other colleagues, authorities, consultants, residents, and private developers. The work also includes sketching, investigations, and establishing detailed plans. In this role, you will act as an advisor on planning issues both internally and externally, respond to questions from residents, present cases for our politicians, and participate in business development.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with post-secondary education as an urban planner, architect, landscape architect, land surveyor, community planner, or other equivalent education, combined with several years of work experience.

To succeed in the role of urban planner, we see that you have extensive experience in project management within the planning process, that you can apply the Planning and Building Act as well as the Environmental Code, and that you have good knowledge of community building. Furthermore, it is an advantage if you have knowledge of programs such as AutoCAD, Q-GIS, and digital planning production, preferably in Focus Detailed Plan and PlanDirect. It is meritorious if you have worked with complex issues in a politically governed organization.

You are creative and take the initiative for development, and you meet new challenges and conditions with a positive and stable attitude. It is important that you can work independently where you are responsible for your work, while also curiously and attentively collaborating with others to achieve goals. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

A valid driver's license (B) is required.
You have a good ability to communicate clearly in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
Good computer skills.
The position will be filled subject to the necessary political decisions being made.
